My Gulf Social helps people find live music, happy hours and places to eat around Naples, Marco Island, Bonita Springs and Southwest Florida. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we never do with it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
The short version
We collect your email address so you can sign in, and we remember the places you save. If you allow it, we use your location to show what's near you. We do not sell your information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not run ads. You can delete your account, and everything in it, from inside the app.
What we collect
Your email address. Asked for when you create your free account. Used to sign you in and to send you a sign-in code. That is all it is used for. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone else.
Your account details, if you choose to give them. When you create your account you can optionally add your name, your city and ZIP code, your age range, how you heard about us, and the areas you like to follow. These are stored with your account so your saved places and preferences come back when you return. They are never sold and never shared for advertising.
Your saved favourites. The venues you save are stored against your account so they are there when you come back.
Your location — stays on your phone. When you tap "Near me" or use a distance-based feature, the app asks your device for your location and uses it to sort venues by how close they are. This happens in your browser, on your own device: your location is never sent to us, never sent to anyone else, and is not stored anywhere. You can refuse, and the app still works — you simply browse by area instead. Your location permission can be withdrawn at any time in your device settings.
Anonymous usage. Which screens are opened, which venues are viewed, and which searches come back with no results — so we can tell what people are looking for and what to improve. This is counted anonymously in aggregate; it is not tied to your name or email address and is not used to build a profile of you.
What we never do
- We never sell your personal information.
- We never share your email address with venues, advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not show advertising in the app.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Services we rely on
Running the app means using a few outside services. They only ever receive what they need to do their job:
- Supabase — stores your account, your favourites and our venue and event data, and handles sign-in.
- Cloudflare — serves the app to your device.
- Map and location providers — used to show maps and to open directions in your own maps app when you ask for them.
- A weather provider — used to show current conditions on the home screen.
- Google Analytics — aggregate usage measurement.
Children
My Gulf Social is intended for adults. Much of what it lists involves licensed premises. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will remove it.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app. Deleting it removes your account, your email address and your saved favourites. If you would rather we did it for you, email us and we will.
Keeping it safe
Your data is held on managed, access-controlled infrastructure and travels encrypted between your device and our servers. No system is perfect, but we do not keep more than we need — which is the most reliable protection there is.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Substantial changes will be noted in the app.
